Rodney Watson

Rodney Watson, a water-skier from Killyleagh, started skiing on Strangford Lough when he was just 19. He did not take up competition skiing until he was 24, but what an impression he has made since then. He is currently the top-ranked water-skier in Ireland and has smashed the All-Ireland skiing record on 10 occasions. He has also won the Irish slalom championship 5 times.

He has won gold and silver medals at the international events at the Tallington Lake Championships in Peterborough, and has also won silver at European events in France. He has finished as high as fifth in the World Championship.

A member of the Lough Aghrey and Meteor Water Ski Clubs, the Killyleagh man already has a host of medals adorning his Annesfield Park home and says he isn’t finished yet.
