Trip to Ireland on offer for Best Irish Band!

The search has begun to find the best Irish Band of 2010 in an online music competition.  The winning band will perform in the high profile Irish music festival ‘Celtic Fusion’ held in Castlewellan, County Down on 15th – 18th July 2010.  The winners will also receive flights from anywhere in North America or the UK to Ireland, complete with five nights accommodation, courtesy of Strangford Lough Brewing Company (SLBC).

The competition is open to any band from the USA or Ireland that plays Irish music.  The competition is free to enter, free to vote and free to watch, no travel necessary, unless you’re the winner of the competition!  Full details of the competition can be found at www.slbc.ie

Strangford Lough Brewing Company and Celtic Fusion are supporting this online Irish Battle of the Bands competition to raise awareness of Irish music and the great annual Celtic Fusion Irish music festival where some of the biggest names in Irish music gather to entertain crowds of thousands of listeners.  Nicholas McCrickard, Network Manager from the East Down Rural Community Network commented “We have confirmed a number of high profile celtic bands.  Among them Eddi Reader, formerly of ‘Fairground attraction’ and ‘Aislann’ will be performing.  We look forward to offering the best of celtic music from Ireland, Scotland, New Foundland and we will soon be welcoming the winner of Battle of the Bands Two, combining American Talent as well.”

It is simple to enter the competition, all bands have to do is send gracem@slbc.ie a link to a video of them playing.  Video links to YouTube or Myspace can be emailed or transferred via www.transferbigfiles.com or any other large file transfer software.

Each video entry can be viewed on www.youtube.com/irishbotb2.  Voting begins on Monday 15th March 2010 on www.slbc.ie with all voting email addresses going into a prize draw to win two tickets to fly to Belfast and watch the band perform. 

SLBC just launched two beers into North America, St Patrick’s Best Ale and Legbiter Ale, which are now available in 20 states.  “We are excited by how well our beer has been received in the American market” said Tony Davies, Managing Director of SLBC, he continued “Second orders have already been placed ahead of schedule which we are obviously delighted about.  Having a beer called St Patrick approaching March 17th is good for business, especially when it tastes as good as ours!”

SLBC would like to congratulate the Rogues for winning Battle of the Bands One, as part of their prize, they will be travelling and staying in Las Vegas and performing in Diablo’s LMG in Las Vegas on 17th March in the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino.  Nelson Stewart from the Rogues commented “The Rogues would like to thank Strangford Lough for hosting such a great competition and for providing such an incredible prize to the winners.  St. Paddy’s Day in Vegas is going to rock!  We would especially like to thank all of our amazing friends and family members in the Rogue Army who voted for us and continue to support us as we move onward and upward.
