Local Brewery Continues Assault on U.S.
County Down beer company, Strangford Lough Brewing Company (SLBC) has continued its expansion with the launch of a number of new initiatives, including the unveiling of the biggest online directory of Irish Bars in the USA.
The directory, Irishbeerfinder.com features over 2,400 Irish themed bars across all 50 US states and offers a search facility for users to find their nearest Irish bar. Users can search for Irish Bars by state, address or zip code and a list of nearby bars will be displayed. The directory also displays a map with the location of the bar pinpointed on it, along with further information including bar profile, logo, photographs and links to bar menus, Facebook or MySpace pages (if available).
Emma McCarey, Marketing Executive at Strangford Lough Brewing Company said; “We have made Irish Beer Finder very easy to use and we hope that everyone will get involved. We have big plans for Irish Beer Finder, we are hoping it will become the ‘Wikipedia’ of Irish Beer!”
Irish Beer Finder allows users to rate and review Irish bars they have visited. Irish quizzes are also available on the site which can be downloaded for pub quizzes, fundraisers or family gatherings, testing your knowledge of the beautiful island of Ireland.
The launch of the website on 4th February 2010 comes ahead of Strangford Lough Brewing Company unveiling its range of traditional Irish ales across the US. They will be launching two beers into America for St Patrick’s Day 2010 – Legbiter Ale and St Patrick’s Best Ale, with the others following shortly behind. Tony Davies, Managing Director at SLBC said, “While not every Irish bar will stock our beer we thought this to be a good place to start in bringing ‘Irishness’ to America.”
The Killyleagh based brewers are also celebrating news of a very special Irish arrival in New York. Their own ‘Wort concentrate’ (a concentrated form of unfermented beer) produced using local Irish barley and shipped to America for it’s finish brewing process has been received in Rochester, New York by High Fall Operating Company.
