St Patrick reaches New York
Irish brewers, Strangford Lough Brewing Company (SLBC), are celebrating news of a very special arrival in New York. Their own ‘Wort concentrate’ (a concentrated form of unfermented beer) produced from barley directly sourced from the fields of St. Patrick’s Country and shipped to America for its finish brewing process, has been received in Rochester, New York by High Falls Operating Company (HFOC), a North American Breweries (NAB) company and a SLBC strategic supply chain partner.
George Thompson, master brewer for SLBC, will be working closely with HFOC over the course of next couple weeks to ensure quality and consistency in the final completion phase of this maiden batch of beer. “We are looking forward to working together with the highly experienced brewing team of HFOC to ensure that the rich traditional Irish character of our premium Ales is fully represented and provide American consumers the opportunity to taste the history of St Patrick’s Country”.
Tony Davies, Managing Director for SLBC, celebrated this important milestone, a direct outcome of the zeal and efforts of the SLBC team since its founding in 2004, and coming one step closer to realizing the vision of bringing authentic premium Irish Ales to the US shores. “We are delighted to have partnered with HFOC, a NAB company and the fourth largest brewer in North America. Their talented brewing and management teams lend a distinct advantage to our production process and ensures the highest quality standards for our Ales that would be supplied across America through our network of licensees. Furthermore, working with such an established organization has allowed SLBC to develop a high value distribution network built on the strength and impeccable industry reputation of HFOC.
Two of SLBC’s Irish Ales, St Patrick’s Best Ale and Legbiter Ale, will be launched on 3rd February 2010 and will be immediately available in 20 states. St Patrick’s Best Ale is light and refreshing on the palate, with a classic Irish malt and traditional hop aroma (ABV of 4.2%.) Legbiter Ale offers a very different flavour with an inviting citrus fragrance, in a brilliant golden ale giving a full but refreshing clean caramel malt bitter finish (ABV 4.8%.) .
