Sauteed Mushrooms
Ingredients:
1 lb. fresh white mushrooms (rinse and cut in halves)
1 stick (1/2 cup) of butter
Fresh chopped garlic (about 10 cloves)
1/4 cup of fresh chopped parsley
The most important ingredient - 12 oz.’s of Ale (such as Barelegs Ale)
Parmesan cheese (freshly grated on top) optional
Salt and pepper to taste
I know many have made resolutions for the New Year to eat better…so for this recipe, heres how to make it healthier:
1. Use unsalted butter
2. Fresh mushrooms (not canned)
3. Fresh Parsely (not dried)
4. Use Kosher or Sea Salt (much healthier)
5. The Cheese is Optional
Cooking Instructions:
1. In a deep skillet with a lid, melt butter and add the garlic! Add the mushrooms, salt and pepper and the ale.
2. Cover with lid, simmer to medium heat until the yeast from the beer foams and the mushrooms are tender (this usually takes about 10 minutes)
3. Cook mushrooms so they are steaming hot when served with your meal. This is where I will sprinkle the parsley and/or cheese on top before serving. The cheese will melt from the steam!
